Message from the ISSDA Jails Committee

In response to the rapidly changing COVID-19 information, and the goal of all Iowa jails to keep our staff and inmates safe, the ISSDA Jails Committee recommends all jails work with and follow recommendations from their local public health department.

For additional information, the ISSDA Jails Committee recommends using reliable sources (IDPH) and reliable sources with public safety and jails in mind (see below for examples - not an all-inclusive list):
• Iowa Department of Public Health:
• National Sheriffs’ Association: (regularly being released by ISSDA)
• National Institute of Corrections Coronavirus information:

For additional resources to help your staff during this time: (not an all-inclusive list)
• Contact your healthcare provider or EAP if stress gets in the way of your daily activities.
