Franklin County Hiring Deputy Sheriff

Franklin County is a rural county located in north-central Iowa with a population of approximately 10,500. The county seat is Hampton, Iowa. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office provides comprehensive law enforcement services to all rural areas of the county, as well as city coverage for Alexander, Bradford, Coulter, Chapin, Geneva, Latimer, and Popejoy.

The Sheriff’s Office is fully staffed with eight full-time deputies and equipped with modern equipment and resources to support effective policing and officer safety.

Position Highlights

• Take-home patrol vehicles
• Firearms, Taser, body-worn cameras, and in-car cameras provided
• All uniforms and duty equipment provided

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting wage: $31.35–$33.94 per hour (approximately $65,500–$71,000 annually)
• Top Deputy salary: Up to $107,000 for FY 2025–2026 under a progressive wage schedule
• Paid overtime at 1.5× the hourly rate

Qualifications

• ILEA (Iowa) certified officers preferred
